Maintenance Technician - 2nd Shift
Maintenance Technician 2nd Shift Schedule: M-F, 4pm 12:30am Job Summary The Maintenance Technician provides on shift technical support for manufacturing equipment and facility systems. This role focuses on troubleshooting, performing repairs, executing preventive maintenance, and ensuring equipment reliability during second shift operations. The technician works closely with Engineering, Production, and Quality teams to minimize downtime and maintain a safe, compliant manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities - Equipment Troubleshooting & Repair
- Respond to equipment breakdowns and production interruptions during second shift.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and basic control system issues.
- Perform corrective maintenance to restore equipment to safe, reliable operation.
- Escalate complex issues to Engineering or senior technicians when needed.
- Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
- Execute scheduled preventive maintenance tasks according to established procedures.
- Inspect equipment for wear, damage, or performance issues and document findings.
- Support predictive maintenance activities such as lubrication, adjustments, and component replacements.
- Assist in maintaining spare parts inventory and ensuring availability of critical components.
- Operational Support
- Partner with Production to ensure equipment is set up, running properly, and meeting performance expectations.
- Support equipment changeovers, setups, and adjustments as required.
- Communicate equipment status, issues, and completed work to incoming shifts and supervisors.
- Documentation & Compliance
- Record all maintenance activities in the CMMS accurately and in a timely manner.
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), safety procedures, and Cardinal Health Quality System requirements.
- Support audit readiness by maintaining complete and compliant maintenance records.
- Participate in root cause investigations and implement corrective actions when assigned.
Qualifications - High School diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience preferred
- 2+ years of experience preferred
- Technical training or experience in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance.
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems.
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, and basic diagnostic equipment.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently on second shift.
- Willingness to work overtime or weekends as needed.
